WHAT ARE IMPACT PATHWAYS?

TIP identified seven opportunity areas where the tire sector can have transformative impact and contribute to the SDGs across three main themes: supply chain, operations, and products and services.

goal
8

Improve progressively through 2030 global resource efficiency in consumption and production, and endeavor to decouple economic growth from environmental degradation in accordance with the 10-year framework of programs on sustainable consumption and production with developed countries taking the lead.

target
8.4

Advance innovation in products, services and business model design to enhance low-carbon and circular solutions while ensuring sustainable management of end-of-life tires (ELT) around the world.

our actions

Establish cross-sectoral engagement supporting and enabling individual companies and their value chains to advance circularity and the development of alternative materials to reduce potential impacts on human health or the environment.

goal
12

By 2030, achieve the sustainable management and efficient use of natural resources. By 2030, achieve the environmentally sound management of chemicals and all wastes throughout their life cycle, in accordance with agreed international frameworks, and significantly reduce their release to air, water and soil in order to minimize their adverse impacts on human health and the environment. By 2030, substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse. Encourage companies, especially large and transnational companies, to adopt sustainable practices and to integrate sustainability information into their reporting cycle. By 2030, ensure that people everywhere have the relevant information and awareness for sustainable development and lifestyles in harmony with nature.

target
12.2

Advance innovation in products, services and business model design to enhance low-carbon and circular solutions while ensuring sustainable management of end-of-life tires (ELT) around the world.

TIP End of Life Tires (ELT) and Sustainability Assessment Methods (SAM) Task Forces are united in their mission to elevate tire circularity and embrace low-carbon solutions. Working collaboratively, these task forces focus on three key areas:

1- Developing standardized definitions and methodologies for circularity and tire lifecycle impacts

2- Promoting alternative materials and eco-design concepts to reduce potential impacts on human health or the environment

3- Driving new practices for tire end-of-life management
